Warranty Transferability
Malarkey warranties are transferable to a new owner within the Right Start™ Period:
- Transfer Process: Must be completed within 30 days of property transfer (or 60 days for roofs installed after July 2016).
- Transfer Application: Available on the Malarkey website.
- Eligibility: The new owner must maintain the home as their primary residence.
Note: The Right Start™ Period provides full coverage for manufacturing defects without prorating. After this period, coverage is prorated.
Roofing FAQs
Do Malarkey shingles melt or get sticky in high heat because they're made with rubber from tires?
Nope! Malarkey shingles are made with upcycled rubber and plastic, but that doesn’t mean they act like a tire on a hot road. The rubber is processed and blended into their NEX® polymer modified asphalt, which actually performs better in heat. Instead of melting, these shingles stay flexible and resist cracking, even in extreme temperatures. So, no sticky mess — just stronger, longer-lasting protection.
Can I walk on the shingles?
It’s best to avoid walking on asphalt shingles in high heat, even Malarkey shingles. Here’s why:
When it’s hot out:
- Shingles soften slightly under extreme heat, making them more prone to scuffing or granule loss.
- Walking on them can dent or damage the surface — even high-performance shingles like Malarkey’s.
- You might also risk slipping, as softened shingles can reduce traction.
Best practice:
- Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when the roof is cooler.
- Use proper footwear with soft soles.
- Step only where necessary and avoid sharp movements.
Malarkey shingles are built tough, but protecting them from unnecessary wear — especially in high heat — helps them last even longer.
